Inspiration

I saw Hugh Ferguson today, riding one of his loops around Hillsboro in his quest to be able to average 10 miles an hour in 80 miles on his 80th birthday on September 28th.

His 80-80-8 goal is one of inspiration in that, while we may all have our childhood memories of riding a bicycle, too many of us gave that up for motorized transportation and other lifestyle changes that led to extreme inertia with a generation whose primary digit is becoming the thumb.
Obesity is endemic in our youth, more adults are diagnosed with diabetes and for too many, the most exercise they get is moving food from hand to mouth.

I just started my 65th year, so Hugh has several one me. I hope to have the resolve he has and to be able to move as he does, not only at 80 but the intervening 15 years and beyond.
